CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Your Nordic ID Merlin contains delicate
electronic parts. Therefore it is vulnerable to
environmental factors such as dirt, extreme
temperatures,
humidity
and
stress. Treat your Merlin with care. The
following hints help you to preserve your
device's functionality and longevity.
CLEANING
• The device can be wiped clean with a
damp, non-abrasive, clean, lint-free cloth.
• Do not use harsh chemicals, strong
detergents, or abrasive cleaners to clean
the device.
HANDLING
• Avoid dropping the Merlin, or bumping it
against other objects. Hard impacts can
damage the device. Note that damages
caused by careless handling are not
covered by the warranty.
• The touch sensitive colour display, i.e. the
touch screen, is vulnerable to mechanical
stress. Do not use sharp objects or
excess force on the touch screen.
• Avoid storing the Merlin in dirty, damp, hot
or cold conditions. Harsh environmental
factors can shorten the life of electronic
components, damage batteries and warp
or fracture plastics or other mechanical
parts.
• When the Merlin is moved from a cold
environment to a warm environment,
condensation may lead to a short circuit
inside the device. It is advisable to allow
the device to acclimatize for several
hours, after being brought in from the
cold, before powering up.
• Try to keep your Merlin dry. Wipe spilled
mechanical
liquids immediately with a dry, non-
abrasive, clean, lint-free cloth. If the inside
gets wet, open the battery cover and
remove the battery to allow the inside to
dry. You may power up the device again
once it has dried.
• Do not open the device case. Opening the
case voids the warranty.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

LASER
Nordic ID Merlin mobile computers, equipped
with 1D laser scanner, are classified as
Class 2 Laser products. The laser scanner
uses the low power laser diode emitting
visible light beam of 650nm wavelength with
1mW power. As with any very bright light
source, such as the sun, the user should
avoid staring directly into the light beam.
Momentary exposure to a Class 2 laser is
not known to be harmful.
The Nordic ID Merlin fulfills the regulatory
requirements as follows:
Complies with 21CFR1040.10 and 1040.11
except for deviations pursuant to Laser

ACCORDING TO THE
INSTRUCTIONS.
Use only Nordic ID BAR00008 Lithium Ion
rechargeable batteries designed for Nordic
ID Merlin. Using any other battery type or

Do not short circuit the battery's electrical
contacts.
Do not expose the battery to direct sunlight
or other heat sources.
Dispose of the battery according to the
