PART B – INSTALLATION
It is very important to position the wood stove as close as possible to the flue system, and in an
area that will favour the most efficient heat distribution possible throughout the house. The wood
stove must therefore be installed in the room where the most time is spent, and in the most
spacious room possible. Recall that wood stoves produce radiating heat, the heat we feel when
we are close to a wood stove. A wood stove also functions by convection that is through the
displacement of hot air accelerated upwards and its replacement with cooler air. If necessary, the
hot air distribution from the wood stove may be facilitated by the installation of a blower.
Usually, no additional floor support is needed for the wood stove. The adequacy of the floor can
be checked by first estimating the weight of the wood stove and the flue system. Next, measure
the area occupied by the roomheater. Note the floor construction and consult your local building
code to determine if additional support is needed.
• MIXING OF APPLIANCE COMPONENTS FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES OR MODIFYING
COMPONENTS MAY RESULT IN HAZARDOUS CONDTIONS. WHERE ANY SUCH CHANGES
ARE PLANNED, STOVE BUILDER INTERNATIONAL INC. SHOULD BE CONTACTED IN
ADVANCE.
• ANY MODIFICATION OF THE APPLIANCE THAT HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED IN WRITING
BY THE TESTING AUTHORITY VIOLATES BUILDING CODES.

5 CLEARANCES TO WALLS AND CEILING

The clearances shown in this section have been determined by test according to procedures set
out in safety standards EN 13240. When the stove is installed so that its surfaces are at or beyond
the minimum clearances specified, combustible surfaces will not overheat under normal and even
abnormal operating conditions.
No part of the stove or flue pipe may be located closer to combustibles than the minimum
clearance figures given.
