Fuel Formation/Fuel Injection
If the fuel pump does not run:
- Test voltage supply for fuel pump and com-
ponents (through fuel pump relay) ⇒ page
24-27.
Testing actuation of fuel pump relay
- Switch off the ignition.
K - Connect test box V.A.G 1598/31 to the wir-
ing loom to the engine control unit ⇒ page
24-12.
- Use an adapter cable from V.A.G 1594 A to
connect socket 80 and socket 2 of the test
box.
- Switch on the ignition.
The fuel pump relay must operate.
If the relay now operates, but not during final
control diagnosis:
- Replace the engine control unit
⇒ page 24-14.
If the relay does not operate:
- Switch off the ignition.
- Remove the fuel pump relay.
K - Connect the multimeter for voltage measure-
ment to contact 19 of relay base and to earth.
- Switch on the ignition.
Specification: approx. battery voltage
If the specification is not achieved:
- Test the cable connections.
