6.2 IGNITION PULSE MODE

Purpose
The evasion measure when impossible to gather the signal (noise of alternator) for finding the number of rotation
from B.UP power supply line.
(This is not supported as a formal operation.)
Conditions
Connection to the ignition signal of the ECU is required.
A separate research is required for the connecting position by each type of vehicle.
Because the harness is very short, an extension is required for connection.
Operations
Step 1: Enter to the demo mode, and place it in the ignition pulse mode.
Step 2: Confirm that the menu item "Tachometer/ECU Setting" is added in the MENU.
Step 3: Select and activate the normal mode with the ACC OFF/ON.
Step 4: Enter to the "Tachometer/ECU Setting" menu on the MENU, and push the On/Off button to be the ON
position.
And enter the number of cylinder engines with the "+"/"-" button.
Description
The ignition signal emits pulses to ignite plugs that correspond to the number of cylinder engines during one
revolution of the crankshaft of the engine.
Therefore, the number of the ignition pulses per one revolution coincides with the number of cylinder engines. *1
For example, in the case of a four-cylinder engine, four pulses of the ignition signal are emitted during one
revolution of the crankshaft of the engine.
The count of eight pulses means two revolutions.
*1 : However, this is the case of a typical reciprocal engine. The case of the special engine like a rotary engine has
not been researched.
The number of emitted pulses during one revolution is fixed regardless of the number of revolutions. If the pulse
of the engine is unclear, try from step 1, and select best fit.

Operation screen
When going into the ignition pulse mode, the menu item "Tachometer/ECU Setting" that is displayed above the
"Location Menu" becomes selectable.
Enter the ON/OFF setting and the ignition pulse number (= number of cylinder engines) per one revolution on the
"Tachometer/ECU Setting" menu.
