The color irregularity on a TV screen persists.
• Turn off the TV set once, then turn it on after 15
to 30 minutes. If the color irregularity still
persists, place the speakers farther away from the
TV set.
Speakers
Sound comes from only one channel or
unbalanced left and right volume.
• Check the speaker connection and speaker
placement.
The sound comes from the center speaker only.
• Depending on the disc, the sound may come
from the center speaker only.
There is no sound from the sub woofer.
• No sound is produced from the sub woofer when
you play a DVD that does not have sub woofer
output recorded.
• Make sure that the SUBWOOFER setting is set
to "YES" (page 36).
There is no sound from the center speaker.
• Set the center speaker level to the appropriate
level.
• The software being played back has limited
sound effects. Check the volume with the test
tone.
Sound lacks bass.
• Check that the speaker's + and – terminals are
connected correctly.
DVD/VIDEO CD/CD/MP3/JPEG
Player
The disc tray does not open and "LOCKED"
appears on the display.
• Contact your Sony dealer or local authorized
Sony service facility.
"MECHA LOCK" appears on the display.
• Turn off the system and unplug AC power cord.
Then, connect the AC power cord again.
The disc tray does not close.
• The disc is not placed properly.
• Always close the tray by pressing OPEN/CLOSE
Z on the system. Trying to press the tray closed
with your fingers may cause problems with the
system.
The disc does not eject.
• You cannot eject the disc during CD Synchro
Recording. Press x to cancel the CD Synchro
Recording, then press OPEN/CLOSE Z on the
system to eject the disc.
• Consult your nearest Sony dealer.
Play does not start.
• Open the disc tray and check whether a disc is
loaded.
• Wipe the disc clean (page 69).
• Replace the disc.
• Place the disc that this system can play (page 6).
• Place the disc correctly.
• Place the disc in the tray with the label side up.
• Remove the disc and wipe away the moisture on
the disc, then leave the system turned on for a
few hours until the moisture evaporates.
• Press hH to start play.
• The region code on the DVD does not match the
system.
• Cancel the Custom Parental Control function
(page 32).
Disc access takes a longer time.
• Set "DVD POWER ON" by DVD power manage
function (page 42).
Audio signal drops when making an analog
recording to a connected optional component
through AUDIO OUT jacks.
• Audio signal may be intermittently output from
AUDIO OUT jacks while recording if the
followings are done.
— SOUND FIELD is pressed.
— the headphones are connected or
disconnected.
— a microphone is connected or disconnected.
The recording is not done properly when making
a digital recording from the audio CD to a
connected MD deck through DVD DIGITAL OUT
jacks.
• Digital audio data is output from the DVD
DIGITAL OUT jack without any surround
effects or other sound processing, so that the
audio data is output slightly ahead from the
sound from the speakers. Therefore, start the
connected MD deck recording in advance when
making a digital recording to a connected MD
deck.
