Hooking up optional components

C DVD DIGITAL OUT jack
Use a digital optical cable (square, not
supplied) to connect the digital input of the
optional MD deck or amplifier to this jack. You
can then record digital audio from this system.
Note
There is no digital audio output from this jack during
playback of a DVD, VIDEO CD or MP3 audio tracks.
D MD/VIDEO (AUDIO) IN jacks
Use audio cords (not supplied) to connect the
audio output of the optional component (such
as MD deck or VCR) to these jacks. You can
then output audio through this system.
E VIDEO OUT jack
Use a supplied video cable to connect the video
input of TV to this jack.
F COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jack
Use the optional video cable (not supplied) to
connect component video input of the TV to
these jacks. If your TV accept progressive
format file signals, you must use this
connection and set "COMPONENT OUT" to
"PROGRESSIVE" in "Adjusting the TV
screen" (page 30).
Note
You cannot output the video signal from GAME
INPUT VIDEO jack through COMPONENT VIDEO
OUT and S VIDEO OUT jacks of this system.
G S VIDEO OUT jacks
Use an S video cord (not supplied) to connects
video input of the TV to this jack. You can
enjoy higher quality video images.
Note
You cannot output the video signal from GAME
INPUT VIDEO jack through COMPONENT VIDEO
OUT and S VIDEO OUT jacks of this system.

H SUBWOOFER OUT jack
Use an audio cord (not supplied) to connect
an optional sub woofer* to this jack.
* SA-GN1 is recommended.
In some areas, the SA-GN1 may not yet be
available.
Note
The effect may be limited or noise may occur
depending on the connected sub woofer or the type
of music being played. For details, consult your
nearest Sony dealer.
I AUDIO OUT jack
Use audio cord (not supplied) to connect the
audio input of the optional component such as
MD deck or VCR to this jack.

first, then release MD
(VIDEO). This switches the
function from MD to

Notes
• If you press MD (VIDEO) while the power is off,
the power turns on automatically and MD (VIDEO)
is selected as the function.
• If the sound is distorted or too loud when VIDEO
function is selected, or you want to switch back to
MD function, repeat step 2 of "Listen to a
connected VCR".
