eXTerN MeNU

Hold SHIFT and press EXTERN (Program 4) to access the extern menu,
where settings and functions relating to the extern section are found.
Use the PAGE 3 and 4buttons to navigate between menu pages, and
on-screen soft buttons to reach different settings within one page. The
PROGRAM dial is used to change settings. When done, press EXIT (shift)
to exit the menu.

Most items on the Extern menu have separate entries for Panel A
and B.

Most settings from the Extern menu are saved with a Program.
The only exception is the "Extern MIDI A/B Channel", if Extern MIDI
Channel Mode is set to Global.
1 - Midi CHaNNel Mode
The extern Midi channels can be either be set globally, or independently
for each program. in Global mode the extern Midi a & B channels will
be the same for all programs. if Program is selected, the extern Midi a
& B channel settings will be saved with each Nord stage 3 program.
Range: Global, Program (default)
2 - Midi PaNel a/B CHaNNel (ProG or GloB)
This sets the extern section's transmitting Midi channels. The setting
will say Prog (Program) or Glob (Global) depending on which has been
selected on page 1 of the extern menu.
Range: 1-16 (14 default for Panel A, 15 is default for Panel B)
3 - KeYB veloCiTY PaNel a/B
This setting determines the velocity curve for the keyboard when send-
ing data on the extern Midi channels for each panel. The soft setting will
make it easier to generate high velocity values, whereas the Hard setting
will make it harder.
Range: Soft, Mid (Default), Hard
4 - deviCe Midi PaNel a/B
For each panel it can be determined whether to send data generated by
the modulation wheel, control (expression) pedal, aftertouch and swell
pedal. if any of these should not generate Midi data, turn its setting to
Off.
Range for Wheel, A.T, Expr and Swell is: On (Default), Off
5 - seNd oN load
This setting toggles if any settings for the Program Change (PC), volume
(vol) or user defined Midi CC (UsrCC) messages in the extern section
should be automatically transmitted when a program is selected, or not.
Range for PC, Vol and UsrCC is: Off (Default), On
6 - ProGraM CHaNGe seTTiNGs PaNel a/B
a "complete" Program Change message consists of three parts: a Bank
select MsB value, a Bank select lsB value and a Program Change
value.

The Nord Stage 3 can send the Program Change message au-
tomatically, when a program is loaded, if the PC "Send On Load"
setting is set to "On".
BaNK MsB
The Bank select MsB ("Most significant Byte") Control Change
message may be necessary to define if addressing a unit with a large
number of internal banks. according to the Midi standard it is defined as
CC# 0, and uses one byte of data for a total of 128 bank values.
Range: 0-127, Off (Default Off)
BaNK lsB
The Bank select lsB ("least significant Byte") Control Change mes-
sage - defined as CC# 32 - uses one byte of data to address a total of
128 banks.
Range: 0-127, Off (Default Off)

ProGraM NUMBer

The actual Program Change message consists of one byte of data for a
total of 128 program values.
Range: 0-127, Off (Default Off)
7 - CoNTrol CHaNGe seTTiNGs a/B
CTrl (CoNTrol)
The Control Change number should be defined according to the pa-
rameter on the external unit which should be addressed. refer to the
documentation of the external unit to see which CC numbers apply for
which parameters.
Range: 0-119, Off (Default Off)
valUe
define this value according to the initial value which should be sent
when using the CC send on load feature.
Range: 0-127, Off (Default Off)
8 - volUMe valUe a/B
The extern section can send Midi volume (CC#7) messages, allowing
you to control the level of an external device. The value defined in this
setting determines the initial value sent when using the volume send on
load feature.
Range: 0-127 (Default 0)
9 - GloBal soFT THrU
incoming Midi that matches the Global or Panel a/B channels can be
re-routed, going out on the extern channel if the extern section is active
on the current Program. This setting determines if this re-routing should
apply or not.
Range: Off (Default), On
