OVERVIEW

the effects on the Nord stage 3 are all available on a per-panel basis.
this means there are two instances of each effects unit, which each can
have its own settings, for every program. the one exception to this rule
are Rotary effect settings: the Rotary can be activated on each panel
separately and for different sound engines, but will always use the same
speed and drive settings on both panels.

ActIVAtING AN EffEct

to enable an effect, press its ON/OFF button. the LEDs above the button
indicate which sound engine the effect is assigned to. Hold down SHIFT
and press the SOURCE button to change the sound engine assignment.
sound engine assignments can also be stepped through by dou-
ble-clicking the source button. this is convenient when you only have
one hand free and cannot reach the shift button.

EffEct tYPE sELEctION WHEN AN EffEct Is Off

When the Effect 1 and 2 sections are turned off, you can still check
which effect type is selected by pressing the corresponding effect
selector button once. the selector LED will briefly show the current
effect type. If the selector button repeatedly, you change the effect type
without turning on the effect.
Effect settings can also be adjusted, even if the actual effect is turned
off. the values of the parameters will be shown in the display.
EffEct 1
the EFFECT 1 section offers six different types of modulation effects. Use
its selector button to switch between the available modulation effects.
turning MST CLK (shift + Rate) synchronizes the Effect 1 Rate with the
Master clock. In Mst clk mode, the Rate is presented as subdivisions of
the Master clock tempo.

A-PAN (AUtO PAN)

the A-PAN is an automatic panning modulation that smoothly pans the
signal between the Left and Right outputs in the stereo panorama.
the rate and the amount of panning are controlled with the RATE and
AMOUNT knobs.

stAtIc PAN cONtROL OVER A sOUND

Manual control over the position of a sound within the stereo panorama
can be achieved with the A-Pan effect:
1
Enable EFFECT 1 for the sound engine (Organ, Piano or synth) you
want to pan, and select the A-Pan effect type.
2
set the RATE knob to zero. Place the sound anywhere in the stereo
panorama with the AMOUNT knob - just like with a pan control on a
mixing console.
