2-5. Driving information
CAUTION
To avoid accident or injury
The total trailer weight (trailer weight plus the weight of cargo) must not
exceed 2250 kg (4960 lb.) [2WD models] or 2500 kg (5511 lb.) [4WD mod-
els].
The gross combined weight (sum of your vehicle weight plus its load and
the total trailer weight) must not exceed the following:
2WD models
Single-cab models:
Extra-cab models:
Double-cab models: 4960 kg (10934 lb.)
4WD models
Single-cab models:
Extra-cab models:
Double-cab models: 5030 kg (11089 lb.) [with diesel engine]
Do not exceed the trailer hitch assembly weight, gross vehicle weight,
gross axle weight and trailer tongue load capacities.
Never load more weight in the back than in the front of the trailer. About
60% of the load should be in the front half of the trailer, and the remaining
40% in the rear.
Hitches
Use only a hitch that conforms to the total trailer weight requirement.
Follow the directions supplied by the hitch manufacturer.
Depending on the type of trailer coupler you use, the trailer ball may need
to be coated with grease. If so, apply grease to the trailer ball in accor-
dance with the instructions of the manufacturer of the trailer coupler.
Remove the trailer hitch whenever you are not towing a trailer. After
removing the hitch, seal any mounting holes in the vehicle body to prevent
entry of any substances into the vehicle.
