6) Remote Desktop
If you are going to use the CAT "Headless" (without a screen/keyboard/mouse) it can
be helpful to set up what is called a Remote Desktop on another computer. This will
allow the other computer to log into the CAT and view the CAT on the computers'
monitor and have full access to JPLAY, JRIVER, dBpoweramp (used for importing
CDs) and all Windows settings.
Even the best remote desktop applications takes some time to learn using a tablet.
Since there is no mouse there are certain hand gestures that you must become
familiar with. Because of this using Remote Desktop on a tablet is difficult. It is much
easier to use Remote Desktop on a desktop or laptop.
If you have a Windows or Apple computer, Android Tablet or iPad 2 or newer the
free Windows Remote Desktop application is excellent.
It can be obtained from the Google Play Store, iTunes store or the Windows App
Store.
You will need your CAT login details to use Microsoft Remote Desktop. These are :

7) Importing CDs
The CAT uses a customized version of dBpoweramp for importing CDs and downloading of
Metadata. Importing is completely automated. Just insert the disc in the front slot and the
CD will be drawn in, imported and ejected when finished.
The CAT uses 3 internet sources for obtaining metadata: GD3, MusicBrainz and freedb.
MusicBrainz and freedb are free, GD3 is not.
In our opinion GD3 must be used. It generally gives better results with more obscure CDs
than the other 2 free options. When we say better results we mean: Album artwork is
available, track and artist names are correct, etc. CAD has included 100 what is called
"CD lookups" with your CAT from the GD3 database. After you have imported 100 CDs
GD3 will no longer work. You can still import CDs, but only MusicBrainz and freedb will be
used and your album covers and other metadata may be missing or of poorer quality. We
recommend that you purchase additional CD Lookups from the GD3 website.
