PORSCHE WARRANTY & MAINTENANCE
Throughout the world, the name "Porsche" means the highest le-
vels of quality, performance and pride of ownership. Porsche
Cars North America's Warranty & Maintenance procedures were
designed to protect and preserve all three of these highly sought
after attributes.
Porsche pride in the quality of our cars is a tradition that began more
than 40 years ago, to when the legendary Porsche 356 began setting
a new sports car standard in quality, reliability and the unparalleled joy
of Porsche automobile ownership. In today's highly automated automo-
bile industry, Porsche cars of the I990's continue to receive handmade
care and craftsmanship where this is the best way to achieve excellen-
ce. Your Porsche sports car is thus the end result of the high stand-
ards of workmanship maintained throughout Porsche AG's modern
plants in and near Stuttgart, West Germany.
Throughout its manufacture, your Porsche automobile received
many quality inspections. And before it was cleared to leave the
factory, it was driven more than 20 miles over public roads by a speci-
ally trained factory test driver (weather permitting). But even after all of
this, there were two more quality checks: at Porsche Cars North Ame-
rica's ("PCNA's") Pre-Delivery Inspection Center after it landed in the
U.S., and once again at your dealer's.
Now that your Porsche vehicle is in service, it can be expected to
deliver "Porsche like" performance and satisfaction only to the
extent that it is maintained as those who designed this superb
vehicle intended. Please refer to the "Car Care Instruction" and
"Maintenance" sections of this booklet for helpful care tips and mainte-
nance intervals. It is important to follow these instructions for several
reasons: first, they will help keep your Porsche automobile looking and
performing in top condition; secondly, the warranty coverage on your
car is dependent on proper routine maintenance and generally on the
way you care for and use this very special sports car.
Every Porsche vehicle sold through one of PCNA's authorized
dealers is protected by a comprehensive system of warranties
You should review the detailed coverage contained in this booklet un-
der "Warranty", but here is a quick summary of how your car is cover-
ed:
New Car Limited Warranty:
24 months, unlimited mileage—Porsche remains one of the few
automakers with an unlimited-mileage new-car general warranty.
Beginning on the date your car is first put in service, this warranty
covers all factory-installed parts under normal use. Both parts and la-
bor are covered. Porsche is unique in that tires are even covered,
prorated based on tread depth and credited toward another purchase.
Expendable maintenance items, normal wear and tear, and road ha-
zards on tires are not covered (see the detailed description under
"New Car Limited Warranty" for what is and is not covered, how to get
warranty service, your responsibilities, etc.).
Paint Limited Warranty:
36 months, unlimited miles. The Porsche factory goes to great
lengths to ensure a superb finish on every car that carries the famous
Porsche crest. Should a flaw develop in the finish of your Porsche
automobile, it may be covered under this warranty (see specific details
under "Paint Limited Warranty").
Corrosion Limited Warranty:
120 months, unlimited mileage. Reliability, durability, long life and
value have always been designed into every Porsche vehicle. Por-
sche's research and development into "long life" technologies throug-
hout the 1970's resulted, in 1980, in the first 6-year corrosion perfora-
tion warranty on a production car. In 1986 this protection was increa-
sed to ten full years. At the time of printing, Porsche remains one of
