Pin 8 in the casting is the coarse downfeed stop (it
meets pin 8 in the depth collar 3, right). At the desired
end-point of the downfeed ('0' on the depth collar),
ramp pin 5 pushes on ball-headed pin 7, above right, to
disengage the drive.

Clutch actuator (4) and tabbed nut (10)
The tapered end of the actuator engages the clutch by
separating the clutch dogs inside the worm gear. Nut
0 unscrews as the quill descends. When the quill is
nearing its end stop the nut drives actuator 4 to the left
(this view), releasing the clutch.
