Connected to a live power source via the included power supply. Important info regarding the ports: The LaCie d2 can be connected to a computer using the USB 3.1 port or the Thunderbolt 3 port. However, it is not possible to connect both ports to a single computer at the same time or, to connect each port to separate computers.
Make certain to use the USB-C cable included with your device. Due to poor construction, many third-party USB-C cables can cause irreparable harm to devices such as your computer and LaCie device. LaCie is not responsible for damage to your LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3 caused by third- party cables. Open the LACIE SETUP volume on your desktop and then double-click LaCie Setup Setup LaCie Setup Assistant does not prevent you from using your computer's native disk utility program to format or partition your LaCie drive. Simply follow the Setup Assistant through completion, then use Disk Management for Windows or Disk Utility for Mac to reformat your drive.
LaCie: formatted for your operating system, NTFS for Windows or HFS+ for Mac. Move the slider to the left to reduce the size of the LaCie Share partition. If you do not want the LaCie Share volume, move the slider all the way to the left.
How to daisy chain Connect the cable to one of the interface ports on the back of LaCie d2 and to your computer. The additional port on LaCie d2 can be used to daisy chain compatible Thunderbolt 3 peripherals, such as hard drives and monitors.
Power delivery Each Thunderbolt 3 port on LaCie d2 outputs up to 15W of power, and the USB 3.1 port delivers up to 27W. You can connect compatible devices that support charging via USB-C to the ports. LaCie d2 must receive power via its power cable to deliver power to compatible devices.
1. Open a Finder window. 2. On the sidebar, go to Devices to locate LaCie and click the eject symbol to the right of the drive name. 3. Once the hard drive disappears from the sidebar or, the Finder window closes, you can disconnect the hard drive's cable from your Mac.

Standard LaCie storage devices will prompt you to run LaCie Setup Assistant when they are first connected to a PC or Mac. LaCie Setup Assistant helps you to quickly format the storage device according to your needs. Please read the information below carefully if you: Abort LaCie Setup Assistant while it is formatting.
1. Make sure the storage device is connected to and mounted on the computer. 2. Go to Search and then type diskmgmt.msc. In the search results, double click Disk Management. 3. From the list of storage devices in the middle of the Disk Management window, locate your LaCie device.
