Read and keep this user manual for as long as the product is being used. It contains vital information on the operation and installation of your smoke alarm.

    Quick start guide 1 Mount the mounting plate Twist the mounting bracket anti-clockwise from the smoke alarm and take off baseplate. Fix the mounting bracket to the ceiling using a screwdriver. The smoke alarm should be mounted at least 10cm (4”) from walls and obstruction, ideally centrally in the room/area.

Extend the antenna so that it points down. 4 Test the alarm A Press and hold the smoke alarm test button. The smoke alarm will alarm and blink continuously until the button released.

    Location and positioning Locating your smoke alarm For maximum protection we strongly recommend that you install a smoke alarm in every room (except bathrooms and kitchens). Research indicates that substantial increase in warning time can be obtained with each properly installed additional smoke alarm.

    building Positioning the smoke alarm Once the most suitable location has been found, the smoke alarm must be positioned where it will be most effective. A central ceiling position is the most suitable for the alarm as smoke rises and spreads out. If this is not possible, the alarm can be mounted on the wall.
  • Page 11 Locations to avoid DON’T place smoke alarms in any of the following areas: 1. Bathrooms, damp or humid or dripping or splashing area, garages and any rooms where the alarm may be triggered by local conditions, i.e. steam or condensation in a bathroom, smoke from cooking appliances, and fumes from vehicles.

    Installation Installation procedure 1 Select a location complying with the advice in the Location and positioning section. 2 Remove the mounting bracket from the smoke alarm by twisting it in an anti-clock- wise direction, see Figure 6. 3 Place the mounting bracket on the ceiling exactly where you want to mount the smoke alarm.
  • Page 13 Hush mode The smoke alarms have a combined test/hush button to help you control nuisance/ false alarms. It is recommended for caravans, workshops, near kitchens and bathrooms - area where local conditions may cause false alarm. If, when the alarm sounds, even there is no sign of smoke or noise to indicate that there is a fire, it should be assumed that it is due to an actual fire and the dwelling should be evacuated immediately.
  • Page 14 Test and maintenance Your smoke alarm is a life saving device and should be checked periodically. Regularly check that the red light on the smoke alarm blinks approximately every 45s to show the units are powered. Replace the battery if there is a beep while blinking.
  • Page 15 WARNING: Do not paint your smoke alarm. Other than the maintenance and cleaning described in this leaflet, no other customer servicing of this product is required. Repairs, when needed, must be performed by the manufacturer. Dust and insect contamination All smoke alarms and particularly the optical (photoelectric) type are prone to dust and insect ingress which can cause false alarms.

    Alarm limitations Limitations of smoke alarms Smoke alarm are designed to provide the earliest possible warning of a fire, and can provide valuable time to escape. They do, however, have limitations.  They will not work without power, i.e. if the alarm does not contain a battery, the wrong type of battery has been used, the battery has been installed incorrectly, or the battery is simply dead, the smoke alarm will not function.

    Visit receiver is found in the product’s user manual. Radio channel / Radio key The smoke alarm transmitter BE1287 transmits on a fixed radio channel. No matter what channel / radio key a Visit receiver is programmed to, it will response to a signal from smoke alarm as long as they are within the transmission range.

    Warranty conditions Bellman & Symfon guarantees this smoke alarm (excluding the battery) for two (2) years from date of purchase against any defects that are due to faulty materials or workmanship. This guarantee only applies to normal conditions of use and service, and does not include damage resulting from accident, neglect, misuse, unauthorized dismantling, or contamination howsoever caused.
