Installation Instructions

This kit contains the following parts:
1x
Assembled MIDI Interface board
1x
14-way ribbon cable with IDC connector
You will need the following to install the kit:
Stranded-core, small gauge wire (multiple colours are helpful)
Phillips head screwdriver
Fine-tip soldering iron and solder
Wire strippers
Note:
Read these instructions thoroughly before installing the kit and ensure that you
understand the processes.

  • Page 2 Korg KPR-77 MIDI Interface - Installation Instructions 2 / 5 Remove any batteries if they are installed, and remove the 7 screws on the underneath of the drum machine. Gently lift off the top half of the case and disconnect the 2 ribbon cables and 3 cable connectors that join the top and bottom halves of the case.
  • Page 3 Korg KPR-77 MIDI Interface - Installation Instructions 3 / 5 Unscrew and remove the voice and connector boards from the bottom half of the case and locate the solder pins for the SYNC socket on the underneath of the connector board.
  • Page 4 Test the KPR-77 and MIDI functionality. Three snare drums will sound in quick succession shortly after power-on to confirm that the MIDI interface microcontroller has started.

    5 / 5 MIDI Implementation • The KPR-77 will receive MIDI note data on Channel 11. It does not respond to any other message type. • If a drum voice is triggered with MIDI velocity 96 or greater, it will be played accented, depending on the accent level on the KPR-77.
