Red plug already inserted in C connection – Continued:-
We recommend you use address F0, FA or FE. You can use other addresses but you should not use
FF which is reserved or FB which is the default remote download address.
In the case of Volvo in particular we know that Dyna eet may be using the Tachograph to provide
termination for their CAN-Bus. This means that when you unhook their RED plug their CAN is not
terminated and may cause dashboard errors. See "Onboard Systems" below.

Onboard Systems

Some manufacturers such as Scania and Volvo come tted with a telematics unit even if the
operator does not use them. We have discovered that vehicles from approximately 2012 may have
a RED plug in the CAN-C connection of the Tachograph. The telematics units may use the
Tachograph to terminate their own CAN-Bus so if the Red Plug is removed from the Tacho errors
may occur which are shown on the vehicle dashboard.
The simple solution is to remove the Red plug and terminate it with a 120 Ohm resistor. The
termination should go between pins 5 and 8 on the manufacturers red plug. Tachosys can supply a
plug to go on the end of the manufacturer's cable with the resistor already in place.
