LED colors

The colors displayed by the ring LED
tell you what a Nexus Q is doing.
LED colors during startup & setup
Rotating blue spot:
Nexus Q is starting up
(after setup or after
plugging in).
Solid color:
Each available Nexus Q
that hasn't yet been
set up displays a
different solid color,
without pulsing, after
successful startup.
Single color pulsing slowly:
The original solid color
starts pulsing when
setup is complete and
Nexus Q is ready to use.
After five minutes, color
fades to black.

Flashing yellow:
Nexus Q can't connect
to the Internet
Flashing red:
Startup failed, or
factory data reset is
about to begin.
Rotating purple stripes:
Software update in
progress.
Animated rainbow colors:
Music is playing.
Blue of varying intensity:
Accompanies rotation
of Nexus Q's top half
to adjust volume
Black:
Nexus Q has been
idle for ten minutes
or more.
