2.2 Unloading and installation

2.2.1 Transport units

The transport units consist of up to three double panels
which are assembled including the busbars and the
associated withdrawable units.
In transport units consisting of one double panel the
busbar and branch busbar are packed separately in the
busbar compartment and fixed on the partition plate to the
cable termination compartment.

2.2.2 Packing

As specified in the order:
a) Each transport units is screwed to a sturdy wooden pallet
and covered by plastic sheeting as a protection against
rain and dust.
b) For oversea shipment, each transport unit is packed
seaworthy in a crate.. i.e. enclosed in a plastic sheeting
which is sealed air-tight and includes bags containing a
dessicant. The HV fuses and accessories are transported
in separate packing.

2.2.3 Unloading

Lifting equipment required:
• A mobile crane for unloading the transport units.
• Lifting tackle.
• A lifting truck or a fork lift with a fork length of approx
/
1.5 m for handing the switchgear inside the building.
• Hydraulic jacks or winches and roller pads.
• The handing/transport gear must meet the site
requirements with regard to its construction and load
bearing capacity. Make reference to the weights (for
raising and transporting) given on the transport units or
in the covering documents.
Proceed as follows:
• Unload the transport units in their packing.
• Take care not to damage the plastic sheeting.
Unloading by mobile crane:
• Suspend the lifting tackle from the crane and position it
over the transport unit.
• Attach the ropes to the tackle and position them so that
they cannot exert pressure on the switchpanel sides.
• Sling the ropes round the ends of the wooden pallet.
• Carefully lift the unit and check whether it has been
correctly balanced. If necessary, lower the unit and
rebalance.
Unloading by means of a fork lift:
• Observe uniform distribution of weight
– Move the transport units as close as possible to the
switchgear building and put them down.
– Dismantle and remove the crates (if provided).
– Move the transport units into the building.
– The plastic sheeting should only be removed in the building
shortly before the units are assembled and temporarily
to check them for signs of transport damage.
