18 Networking

Connecting the Verifit to a network allows for transferring data between the Verifit and other networked
computers and printers, as well as for controlling the Verifit from computers running the Audioscan Remote
software. See the section Printing and Storing Results for details about printing and storing data, including about
the how to transfer data to the optional Audioscan NOAH module.
If you have a wired network, see the General Operation section for instructions about how to connect the Verifit
through a wired connection. If you have a wireless network, you can use the Verifit's built-in wireless feature. In
either case, the following section describes how to set up the network connection in software, before transferring
data, printing results, or using the Remote Operation software.

Networking standards

The Verifit connects to the network through its wireless or wired interface. The Verifit supports the 802.11 b, g,
or n wireless network standards and speeds, as well as the following wifi security standards:
2. WPA / WPA2
3. WEP
4. None
The Verifit can connect to a local area network (LAN or WLAN) using either automatic or static internet
address assignment. Most home and small-office networks use automatic addressing through DHCP (Dynamic
Host Configuration Protocol). Large corporate and institutional networks typically use static address assignment.
For static address assignment, consult your network administrator.
With a wired Ethernet connection, the Verifit operates at 100base-T. Connection to Gigabit (GbE) ports on
switches or routers is possible as long as the port is either configured to 10/100 or to automatically adjust the
speed.
