    Vehicle Installation Installing Your Xpress You are about to transform your car radio into an XM experience! Step 1: Plan the Installation Select an area on the dashboard you want to place the car cradle . This is where you will install the swivel mount .

    Step 2: Mount the XM Car Antenna To mount the XM car antenna: Place the car cradle on the dashboard . You will connect it to the swivel mount later on . TIP! Make sure the door does not pinch the cable when closed .

When selecting a location, consider any accessories that your car has, such as a luggage rack, and how often you use the accessories .

    Magnet TIP! When routing the cable: • Make sure any extra cable does not interfere with normal car operation . • Make sure there are no knots or twists in the cable as these can affect signal reception and damage the cable . •...
  • Page 16 Vehicle Installation Locate a flat surface for the swivel mount on the dashboard . Make sure there is ample room for the car cradle and radio when installed . Use the alcohol pads in the swivel mount preparation kit to clean the surface .

To remove the swivel mount, warm the adhesive pad with a hair dryer for several minutes to soften the adhesive, and then carefully lift the adhesive pad with your fingers or a spoon . You can reinstall the swivel mount using the extra adhesive pad in the swivel mount preparation kit .

    Vehicle Installation Step 4: Connect Your Xpress Connecting the Car Cradle to the Swivel Mount To connect the car cradle vertically onto the swivel mount, slide the car cradle down onto the swivel mount . The retainer tab should be inserted into the groove on the back of the car cradle .

    Vehicle Installation Step 5: Finding an FM Frequency If you choose either the XM SureConnect or FM direct adapter, your Xpress radio uses a built-in FM modulator to receive XM Satellite Radio programming on an unused FM frequency . Finding an unused FM frequency is simple: Menu .

    To turn on your Xpress, press the Power button . Tune your Xpress to XM Channel 1 and verify that you can hear the audio . If you do not hear any audio on XM Channel 1, return to Plugging Everything In on page 20 and check all cable connections .

    TIP! You can configure your Xpress to automatically tune to the channel you scroll to . See Tune Directly to a Channel on page 42 for more information . NOTE! XM channels with explicit language have the XL symbol in front of them in the channel list .

    Using Your Xpress Preset Your Favorite Channel You can save up to 30 of your favorite XM channels to the number keys so you can quickly access them . Your Xpress provides three banks to add channels to: A, B, and C. You can add up to 10 channels in each bank .

To edit TuneSelect alerts by artist or song, or delete artists or songs from the saved list, see page 45.

    Configuring Your Xpress Adjust the Audio Level You can adjust the audio output level on your Xpress to match other audio sources, such as your CD player, other FM channels, or your MP3 player . To adjust the audio output level: Press Menu .

    Aim the Antenna For best reception, your XM antenna should have a clear view of the southern sky . Your Xpress can help you aim the antenna for best reception . This feature is especially helpful if you plan to use your Xpress indoors .

    Configuring Your Xpress Tune Directly to a Channel Normally, as you scroll through the XM channels while turning the dial, you can preview the channel list before selecting a channel . Xpress does not switch to that channel until you press the dial . You can change this so that Xpress automatically tunes to the channel that is highlighted for more than 3 seconds .

    Skip a Channel You can remove XM channels from the channel list in order to reduce the number of channels to scroll through . To skip an XM channel: Press Menu . Scroll to Channel Skip/Add . Channel Skip/Add. The channel list appears in the Press the dial to select screen .

    Configuring Your Xpress Memory Recall You can save artist and song title information listings for up to 20 artist/song combinations by pressing Memory (mem.) once when a favorite artist or song is playing . To recall your memory list: Press Menu .
