NPH Insulin
Neutral Protamine Hagedorn. An intermediate-acting insulin that, on
average, starts to lower blood glucose within 1 to 2 hours after injection. It
has its strongest effect 6 to 10 hours after injection but keeps working
about 10 hours after injection. Also called N insulin.
Offset Time
Offset time takes into account the expected delay for the blood glucose
level to actually fall due to the acting insulin in the body. It describes the
first time period within the acting time.
Pre-Mixed Insulin
A commercially produced combination of two different types of insulin.
Remind After
A bG test reminder setting. The amount of time after a high blood glucose
test result, after a low blood glucose test result, or after a meal you want
the reminder to occur.
Reminder
When enabled, reminders occur to remind you to test your blood glucose,
to retest your blood glucose or of an event or activity.
Snack Size
The amount of carbohydrates that is not to be counted as a regular meal
with the expected meal rise.
