  • Page 10 Other Precautions • The SD Memory Card is equipped with a write-protect switch. Setting the switch to LOCK prevents new data from being recorded on the card, the stored data from being Write-protect switch deleted, and the card from being formatted by the camera or computer.

Deleted data can sometimes be recovered using commercially available software.     Turning the Camera On Turn the main switch to ON Making the Initial Settings The [Language/ ] screen appears when the camera is turned on for the first time. Select the desired language and then set the date and time. Use the four-way controller (2345) to select the desired language.

    Taking Pictures Once the camera is ready for use, you can start taking pictures. Letting the Camera Choose the Optimal Settings First, try taking pictures with the easiest way. You can take pictures while looking through the viewfinder or while viewing the image on the monitor (Live View).
