8. TEDS
A TEDS chip at sensors (Transducer Electronic Data Sheets) enables an easy setup of data acquisition systems.
The channel configuration can be automatically be done by recognizing which sensor is connected to each
channel.
The software preAmpLTT recognizes right now the UNIQUE-ID of such a TEDS chip an can load a pre-saved
configuration to the channel.
8.1. Detection of TEDS Sensors
The TEDS detection starts on the selected channel(s) by pressing the hotkey ALT+1 and selecting the menu point
Check TEDS .
Following can happen during TEDS detection:
No sensor with TEDS information was found. Following window popup:

A new TEDS Unique-ID was found which is not saved in the TEDS database:
A new TEDS entry will be started. Explained below. It is possible that no action happens, if in the menu point
Device – Settings – TEDS – Add new TEDS information to configuration list is not check marked.
A known TEDS Unique-ID was found:
The pre-saved channel setup will be loaded to the right channel. Nothing happens, if the menu point Device –
Settings –TEDS – Apply configuration on existing TEDS information is not check marked.
The actual preAmpLTT software supports only the reading of the UNIQUE-ID and cannot read the TEDS sensor
configurations like sensitivity or engineering unit. This functionality will be implemented in a future version of this
software.
8.2. TEDS Database and configurator
As soon a Unique-ID was recognized during the Check TEDS function, this value will be compared with the saved
data in the TEDS database. If this unique-id was known in the database, the channel setting will be transferred to
the right channel. If the unique-id is new to the database, the ID will be saved to the database and the right
channel configuration can be entered by using the TEDS configurator
To start the TEDS configurator go to the menu point Options – TEDS Database . A new window comes up with a
list of all saved configurations.
