Removing Drilling Tools without SDS-plus
– Turn the sleeve of the key type drill chuck 20
with the drill chuck key in anticlockwise di-
rection until the drilling tool can be removed.

Dust extraction

Dusts from materials such as lead-containing
coatings, some wood types, minerals and
metal can be harmful to one's health. Touch-
ing or breathing-in the dusts can cause aller-
gic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infec-
tions of the user or bystanders.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are
considered as carcinogenic, especially in
connection with wood-treatment additives
(chromate, wood preservative). Materials
containing asbestos may only be worked by
specialists.
– As far as possible, use a dust extraction
system suitable for the material.
– Provide for good ventilation of the work-
ing place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-
class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your
country for the materials to be worked.
Prevent dust accumulation at the work-
place. Dusts can easily ignite.
Warning! Danger of fire! Do not work metal
or wooden materials with the dust extrac-
tion mounted. Hot metal chips can self-ignite
or ignite parts of the dust extraction.
Note: Do not use the dust extraction 14 when
chiselling or screwdriving.
The dust extraction 14 retracts while working,
so that the dust collector is always kept close to
structural surface being drilled. The dust extrac-
tion automatically switches on and off with the
power tool.
To achieve optimum extraction results, please
observe the following notes:
– The drilling tool being used may not project
over the dust collector 17 or 30 (Example for
an SDS-plus drill bit: Max. total length ap-
prox. 160 mm, working length approx.
100 mm).
Bosch Power Tools
– Pay attention that the dust collector faces
flush against the workpiece or the wall. At
the same time, this makes working at a right
angle easier.
– After reaching the requested drilling depth,
first pull the drill bit out of the drill hole and
then switch the machine off.
– Check the condition of the filter element 24
regularly. Replace a damaged filter element
immediately.
Mounting/Removing the Dust Extraction
(see figure F)
– To remove the dust extraction, push the re-
lease button 10 and pull off the dust extrac-
tion toward the front.
If required, pivot the auxiliary handle 12 to
the side.
– To mount the dust extraction 14, slide it via
the guide grooves 22 onto the support guide
of the machine until it can be heard to en-
gage.
Integrated Dust Extraction with Dust Box
(see figure G)
The filling level of the dust box 9 can easily be
checked through the transparent flap 23.
Empty the dust collector in good time, other-
wise the suction performance will be impaired.
– For removal of the dust box 9, push the two
unlocking buttons 11 and pull the dust box
downward out of the dust extraction 14.
– Before opening the dust box 9, gently strike
or tap it against a firm surface to loosen the
dust from the filter element 24.
– Open the dust box flap 23 on the bottom side
and empty the dust box.
– Shut the dust box flap 23 and reinsert the
dust box from below into the dust extraction
14 until it can be heard to engage.
– Check the filter element 24 for damage. Re-
place it immediately when damaged.
External Dust Extraction (see figure H)
For dust extraction with a vacuum cleaner, the
adapter box 25 (accessory), which is inserted
into the dust extraction 14 instead of the dust
box 9, is required.
