SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
TO ADJUST TRACTOR
BRAKE
(See FIGS. 31A & 31B)
Your tractor is equipped with an adjustable
disc brake
mounted on the transa.xleo
TO CHECK BRAKE OPERATION-
e
Stop tractor on a hard flat surface and turn off engine.
•
Place shift control lever in NEUTRAL posilion_
e
Depress brake-clutch
pedal enough to latch parking
brake in 1st notch.
e
Try to push tractor,. If you are unable to push tractor,
brake is too tight and should be loosened (see TO
ADJUST TIGHT BRAKE below)..
e
Depress brake-clutch
pedal enough to latch parking
brake in 3rd notch.
e
Try to push tractor_ If you are able to push tractor, brake
is too loose and should be tightened (see TO ADJUST
Loose
BRAKE below).
TO ADJUST LOOSE BRAKE -
o
Place shift control lever in NEUTRAL position and
depress brake-clutch
pedal enough to latch parking
brake in 4th notch
e
Turn brake adjusting nut clockwise until you cannot
push tractor.
e
Re-check tractor brake adjustment as outlined above_
TO ADJUST TIGHT BRAKE-
Place shift control lever in NEUTRAL
position and
depress brake-clutch pedal enough to latch parking
brake in 1st nolch.
e
Turn brake adjusting nut counter-clockwise until you
can push tractor.
e
Re-check tractor brake adjustment as outlined above..
During tractoroperation, check for stopping distance. If tractor
requires more than six (6) feet for stopping distance at high
speed in highest gear, the brake must be adjusted (see TO
ADJUST TRACTOR BRAKE as described above).
TO ADJUST STEERING
GEAR
(See FIG. 32)
If excessive play develops
in steering, adjust pinion and
sector gears as follows:
•
Position front wheels straight forward_
•
. Slightly loosen mounting
screws in lower steering
shaft bearing.
•
Move lower steering bearing forward as needed.
•
Hold bearing
in place,
tighten
mount}ng
screws
securely. Torque mounting screws to between !_ and
!8 foot pounds.
