Safety instructions

Rider's equipment
The following clothing will protect
you for every journey:
Helmet
Motorcycling jacket and
trousers
Gloves
Boots
This applies even to short
journeys, and to every season
of the year. Your authorised
BMW Motorrad dealer will be
glad to advise you on the correct
clothing for every purpose.
Loading
Overloading and imbal-
anced loads can adversely
affect the motorcycle's handling.
Do not exceed the permissible
gross weight and be sure to
comply with the instructions on
loading.
Set spring preload, damping
characteristic and tyre pres-
sures to suit total weight.
Ensure uniform case volume
and that the case volumes on
the left and right are equal.
Pack heavy items at the bot-
tom and toward the inboard
side.
Observe the maximum per-
missible payload indicated on
the label in the respective lug-
gage system.
Note the maximum permissible
payload of the luggage carrier.

Speed
If you ride at high speed, always
bear in mind that various bound-
ary conditions can adversely af-
fect the handling of your motor-
cycle, e.g.:
Spring-strut and shock-ab-
sorber system not set up cor-
rectly
Imbalanced load
Loose clothing
Insufficient tyre pressure
Poor tyre tread
Added luggage systems such
as cases, topcase, two-way ra-
dio box and tank rucksack. Ob-
serve the speed limit indicated
on the label in the respective
luggage system.
