Starting the Engine
IMPORTANT:
Check that the auger, impeller, and
the discharge chute contain no obstructions before you
operate the snowthrower. Use a stick, not your hand, to
remove an obstruction from the discharge chute.
1. Move the throttle to the Fast position.
2. Ensure that the auger/impeller control lever and the
traction control lever are in the Disengaged position
(Fig. 18).
3. Open the fuel shut–off valve below the fuel tank
(Fig. 20).
4. Rotate the choke (Fig. 19) to the On position.
5. Insert the ignition key (Fig. 19).
6. Cover the hole in the center of primer (Fig. 19) with
your thumb and slowly push the primer three times.
Do not use the primer if the engine has been
running or is hot.
Note:
Excessive priming may flood the engine and
prevent it from starting.
7. Grasp the recoil starter handle (Fig. 21) and pull it out
slowly until positive engagement results; then pull the
handle vigorously to start the engine.
