6.
Insert a new paper cartridge into the air cleaner
body. Reassemble the air cleaner.
IMPORTANT: Petroleum solvents, such as
kerosene, are not to be used to clean the paper
cartridge. They may cause deterioration of
the cartridge. DO NOT OIL THE
CARTRIDGE. DO NOT USE
PRESSURIZED AIR TO CLEAN THE
CARTRIDGE.
IMPORTANT: Always operate the engine
with the air cleaner element in place or engine
damage will result.

Engine Oil

Service Interval/Specification
Change oil:
After the first 5 operating hours.
After every 25 operating hours.
Note:
Change oil more frequently when
operating conditions are extremely
dusty or sandy.
Oil Type: Detergent oil (API service SF, SG, SH)
Crankcase Capacity: 48 oz. (1.4 l)
Viscosity: See table below

Checking Oil Level
1.
Park the machine on a level surface, disengage
the power take off (PTO), set the parking brake,
and turn the ignition key to "OFF" to stop the
engine. Remove the key.
2.
Clean around the oil dipstick (Fig. 16) so dirt
cannot fall into the filler hole and damage the
engine.
3.
Unscrew the oil dipstick and wipe the metal end
clean (Fig. 16).
4.
Screw dipstick fully into filler neck; then remove
it and check oil level on dipstick. If level is low,
add only enough oil to raise level to FULL mark.
Do not overfill or engine damage may result.
IMPORTANT: Do not overfill the crankcase
with oil because the engine may be damaged.

Start the engine and let it run five minutes. This
warms the oil so it drains better.
