Sharpening the Blade
1. Use a file to sharpen the cutting edge at both ends
of the blade (Figure 34). Maintain the original angle.
The blade retains its balance if the same amount of
material is removed from both cutting edges.

2. Check the balance of the blade by putting it on a
blade balancer (Figure 35). If the blade stays in a
horizontal position, the blade is balanced and can be
used. If the blade is not balanced, file some metal
off of the back side of the blade. Repeat this step
until the blade is balanced.

Installing the Blade
1. Install the blade, blade stiffener, curved washer, and
blade bolt (Figure 33).
Important: The curved part of the blade must
be pointing toward the inside of the mower to
ensure proper cutting.
2. Tighten the blade bolt to 61 to 82 N-m.
Important: Ensure that the cutting edge of the
blade is away from the mower housing.
Leveling the Mower
1. If the mower cuts unevenly and the cutting blade is
not bent, you must level the mower.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop.
4. Remove the ignition key.
5. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug.
6. Set the air pressure in the tires to the recommended
level; refer to Checking the Tire Pressure.
7. Remove the cotter pin at the front of the adjusting
rod (Figure 36).
