Installing the Filters
Important: To prevent engine damage, always
operate the engine with both air filters and cover
installed.
1. If installing new filters, check each filter for shipping
damage. Do not use a damaged filter. (Figure 31).
2. If the safety filter is being replaced, carefully slide it
into the filter body (Figure 31).
3. Carefully slide the primary filter over the safety filter
(Figure 31). Ensure that it is fully seated by pushing
on the outer rim of the filter while installing it.
Note: Do not press on the soft inside area of the
filter.

4. Pull the oil dipstick and wipe the metal end clean
(Figure 33).
5. Slide the oil dipstick fully into the engine. Pull the
dipstick out and look at the metal end (Figure 33). If
oil level is low, slowly pour only enough oil into the
filler tube to raise the level to the full mark.
Important: Do not overfill the crankcase with
oil because the engine may be damaged. Do not
run engine with oil below the low mark because
the engine may be damaged.
Changing the Oil
Service Interval: After the first 8 hours
Every 100 hours
1. Start the engine and let it run five minutes. This
warms the oil so it drains better.
2. Park the machine so that the drain side is slightly
lower than the opposite side to assure the oil drains
completely.
