Cleaning the Foam and Paper Elements
Service Interval: Every 25 hours—Service the foam
element. (more often in dusty, dirty
conditions)
Every 100 hours—Service the paper
element. (more often in dusty, dirty
conditions)
Every 200 hours/Yearly (whichever
comes first)—Replace the paper
element. (more often in dusty, dirty
conditions)
1. Foam Element
A. Wash the foam element in liquid soap and
warm water. When the element is clean, rinse
it thoroughly.
B. Dry the element by squeezing it in a clean cloth
(do not wring). Allow the element to air dry.
Important: Replace the foam element if it
is torn or worn.
2. Paper Element
A. Lightly tap the element on a flat surface to
remove dust and dirt.
B. Inspect the element for tears, an oily film, and
damage to the seal.
Important: Never clean the paper element
with pressurized air or liquids, such as

solvent, gas, or kerosene. Replace the paper
element if it is damaged or cannot be cleaned
thoroughly.

Servicing the Engine Oil

Oil Type: Detergent oil (API service SF, SG, SH, SJ,
or SL)
Crankcase Capacity: 1.9 qt (1.8 l), [when oil filter is
removed: 2.2 qt (2.1 l)]
Viscosity: See the table below.

Note: Using multi grade oils (5W-20, 10W-30, and 10W
-40) will increase oil consumption. Check oil level more
frequently when using them.
Checking the Engine Oil Level
Service Interval: Before each use or daily
Note: Check the oil when the engine is cold.
Contact with hot surfaces may cause personal
injury.
Keep hands, feet, face, clothing and other body
parts away the muffler and other hot surfaces.
Important: Do not overfill the crankcase with oil
because damage to the engine may result. Do not
run engine with oil below the low mark because the
engine may be damaged.
1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengage the
blade control switch, stop the engine, engage parking
brake, and remove the key.
2. Make sure the engine is stopped, level, and is cool so
the oil has had time to drain into the sump.
