Hydraulic System

Replacing the Hydraulic Filter
Change the hydraulic filter:
After the first 8 operating hours.
After every 400 operating hours.
1.
Position machine on a level surface, lower the
loader arms, stop the engine, and remove key
from ignition switch.
IMPORTANT: Do not substitute automotive
oil filter or severe hydraulic system damage
may result.
2.
Place drain pan under filter, remove the old filter
and wipe the filter adapter gasket surface clean.
3.
Apply a thin coat hydro fluid to the rubber
gasket on the replacement filter (Fig. 14).

Install replacement hydraulic filter onto the filter
adapter. Tighten clockwise until the rubber
gasket contacts the filter adapter, then tighten the
filter an additional 1/2 turn (Fig. 14).

Clean up any spilled fluid.

Start engine and let run for about two minutes to
purge air from the system. Stop the engine and
check for leaks.
7.
Check fluid level in hydraulic tank and add to
raise level to mark on dipstick. DO NOT OVER
FILL.
Changing the Hydraulic Fluid
Change the hydraulic fluid:
After every 400 operating hours.
Note:
If fluid becomes contaminated, contact
your local TORO distributor because
the system must be flushed.
Contaminated fluid looks milky or
black when compared to clean oil.
1.
Position machine on a level surface, lower the
loader arms, stop the engine, and remove key
from ignition switch.
2.
Remove drain plug from bottom rear of reservoir
and let hydraulic fluid flow into drain pan.
Reinstall and tighten plug when hydraulic fluid
stops draining.
3.
Fill reservoir with approximately 15 gallons of
hydraulic fluid. Refer to Checking Hydraulic
Fluid.
IMPORTANT: Use only hydraulic fluids
specified. Other fluids could cause system
damage.
4.
Install reservoir cap. Start engine and use all
hydraulic controls to distribute hydraulic fluid
throughout the system. Also check for leaks.
Then stop the engine.
5.
Check level of fluid and add enough to raise
level to FULL mark on dipstick. DO NOT
OVER FILL.
