Removing and Installing the
Mulching Baffles (For Model
74402 Only)
Removing the Mulching Baffles
Complete the following procedure to convert your
mulching mower into a side discharge mower.
1. Raise the mower to the G position (4–1/2 inch)
(Fig. 10).
2. Remove the bolts and locknut from the front baffle and
remove the baffle (Fig. 19). Save these bolts and
locknut.

3. Remove the nuts and bolts from the middle baffle.
(Fig. 19).
4. Install bolts and locknuts into the mower wheel bracket
and mower (Fig. 19).

Warning
Open holes in the mower expose you and others to
thrown debris which can cause severe injury.
Never operate the mower without hardware
mounted in all holes in the mower housing.
Install the hardware in the mounting holes when
you remove the recycling baffle.
Installing the Mulching Baffles
Complete the following procedure to convert back to a
mulching mower.
1. Thoroughly clean the mower.
2. Remove the locknuts and bolts from the front baffle
mounting holes (Fig. 19).
3. Install the middle baffle to the mower with 2 bolts and
locknuts removed in step 2 (Fig. 19).
4. Install the front baffle into the slot in the discharge
cover (Fig. 19).
5. Install the front baffle to the mower with three bolts and
one locknut (Fig. 19).
