Section 2 - Getting to Know Your Power Package

Analog Gauges

The following is a brief explanation of the instrumentation typically found on some boats.
As the owner or operator, you should be familiar with all instruments and their functions.
Because of the large variety of instrumentation and manufacturers, you should have your
boat dealer explain the particular gauges and normal readings for your boat.

FUEL

Speedometer: indicates boat speed
Tachometer: indicates engine RPM
Oil pressure gauge: indicates engine oil pressure
Voltmeter: indicates battery voltage
Water temperature gauge: indicates engine operating temperature
Fuel gauge: indicates quantity of fuel in the tank
Hour meter: records engine operating time
Bilge blower switch: operates the bilge blower
Ignition switch: starts and stops the engine.
Power trim gauge: indicates sterndrive unit angle (trim out or in)

Remote Controls

Your boat may be equipped with a Mercury Precision Parts or Quicksilver remote controls.
All controls may not have all features shown. Consult your dealer for a description and/or
demonstration of your remote control.
