    ENGLISH PREPARING FOR USE Machine Packaging The original packaging has been designed and constructed to protect the machine during transport. We recommend keeping the packaging material for possible future transport. Machine Installation Remove the drip tray with grill and the carafe from the packaging. Remove the machine from the packaging.

    ENGLISH USING THE MACHINE FOR THE FIRST TIME When using the machine for the fi rst time, the following activities need to happen: 1) You have to select the language. 2) The machine will perform an automatic rinse/cleaning cycle. 3) You need to perform a manual rinse cycle.     ENGLISH Saeco Adapting System Coff ee is a natural product and its characteristics may change according to its origin, blend and roast. The machine is equipped with a self-adjusting system that allows the use of all types of coff ee beans available on the market except for caramelized and fl avoured coff ee beans.

The machine allows you to adjust the amount of each beverage according to your taste and the size of your cups.

    ENGLISH CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Daily Cleaning of the Machine Caution: Timely cleaning and maintenance of your machine is very important as it prolongs the life of your machine. The machine is continuously exposed to humidity, coff ee and limescale! The activities you need to perform and their frequency are described in detail in this chapter.

    ENGLISH Note: Perform this operation also when the full drip tray indicator is raised. Daily Cleaning of the Water Tank Remove the small white fi lter or the INTENZA+ water fi lter (if installed) from the water tank and wash both with fresh water. Put the small white fi lter or the INTENZA+ water fi lter (if installed) back in its housing by gently pressing and turning it at the same time.

Wash the suction tube with the fi tting thoroughly with fresh water. After installing the suction tube with the fi tting, insert the carafe dis- penser on the top of the carafe.

    ENGLISH Weekly Cleaning of the Milk Carafe The weekly cleaning is more thorough since all milk residues are removed from the dispenser. Press one of the release buttons to remove the top of the carafe as shown in the fi gures (A or B). Remove the lid.
  • Page 67 ENGLISH Remove the fi tting (B) from the suction tube. Detach the lid (C) from the milk carafe dispenser by slightly pressing on the sides while pushing downwards. Remove the milk frothing device (D) from the support (E). Remove the fi tting (F) from the milk frothing device by pulling it out- wards.

Attach the top (C) to the carafe dispenser. Insert the fi tting (B) into the suction tube. Insert the suction tube with the fi tting (A) into the milk frother.

    ENGLISH Weekly Cleaning of the Brew Group The brew group should be cleaned every time the coff ee bean hopper is fi lled or at least once a week. Turn off the machine by pressing the “ ” button and remove the plug from the socket.
  • Page 71 ENGLISH Open the brew group unlocking lever. Seize the brew group handle and pull it outwards. While pulling the lever, remove the brew group. Thoroughly wash the brew group with lukewarm water and carefully clean the brew group fi lter. Caution: Do not use detergent or soap to clean the brew group.
  • Page 72 ENGLISH Thoroughly clean the upper screen using a non-abrasive cloth to remove any coff ee grounds. Warning: Danger of burning! The upper screen is a hot component. Make sure that the machine has cooled down, before cleaning. Perform the op- eration when the machine has been turned off for at least one hour.

Wash the tray with water. After washing it, dry it thoroughly before use. Clean the coff ee bean hopper and insert the tray back into place.

    Monthly Cleaning of the Milk Carafe For the monthly cleaning cycle we recommend using the “Saeco Milk Circuit Cleaner” to keep the entire circuit clean of milk residues.
