Shading on unprinted sections

Possible cause
Paper has been
affected by static
electricity.
Paper is too thick.
Toner is low.
Toner rubs off when you rub the printed
surface.
Possible cause
Media Weight and
Media Type settings
may not be
appropriate.
Packing materials were
left on the fuser when
it was installed.
Ultra Heavy
If the Ultra Heavy setting does not give proper toner fusion,
you can try the Label settings.
Remedy
Store paper within specified temperature and
humidity levels. See "Specifications" on
page 122.
Use recommended paper. See "Paper (Print
Media)" on page 10.
Replace toner cartridge. See "Replace a Toner
Cartridge" on page 73.
Remedy
Set the value of media weight in the menu to
the next heaviest one (MEDIA MENU → YYY
MEDIA WEIGHT).
Careful! Fuser my be HOT!
Open the top cover and check to be sure that
all the packing materials were removed from
the fuser. See "Replace the Fuser" on page 87.
