Apple's Energy Saver control panel won't automatically put my
computer to sleep.
• The Energy Saver control panel looks for system activity at
a very low level. It interprets the PowerKey software's
normal communication with the hardware as activity, so it
will never automatically put a computer to sleep.
You can use the PowerKey software to put your computer
to sleep using a System Idle Trigger and a Sleep System
Action. There is also a shareware program called Sleeper
by St. Clair software; this control panel offers many more
features than Energy Saver, and works well with
PowerKey Pro. You can reach St. Clair Software on the
Internet at <http://www.stclairsw.com/stclairsw/>.
I can't execute an AppleScript with a PowerKey Pro Event, but it
works fine if I double-click on it.
• Your script may attempt to display a window on the
screen, which can't be done from a background-only
application (like the PowerKey Extension). Open your
script in the Script Editor, and save it as an application.
Then use the "Open File" Action to execute it instead of an
"Execute Script" Action.
