Remote Control Batteries
The battery in the remote control is a long-life lithium
battery. If the range of the remote control decreases,
please proceed as follows:
Open the battery compartment on the side of the
remote control.
Replace the battery with a battery of the same type.
Please ensure the polarity is correct (see imprint on
the device holding the battery in place).
Now close the battery compartment.
Warning: batteries are not to be disposed of together
with domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at
the relevant collection bin or at your dealer's.
Never throw batteries into the fi re.
CD deck transport protection
Please open the CD compartment (11) by pressing the
PUSH/OPEN button (12). Remove the transport protec-
tion from the CD player if present before use.
General Operation
STANDBY/
ON/POWER (1):
Please switch the machine on
using the STANDBY/ON button (1)
or the POWER button (A on the
remote control).
Switch off:
Switch the music centre to standby
using the STANDBY/ON button (1).
BBS ON/OFF (5):
This is used to amplify the bass
sounds. The switch can be in one
of two positions, ON or OFF.
Volume:
You can set the desired volume
using the VOLUME control (6) (B
on the remote control).
PHONES
Headphone
connection (28):
When the plug of a set of headpho-
nes is inserted into the headphone
socket on the back of the device
the loudspeakers are switched off.
If your plug does not fi t, please use
an appropriate adapter.
Infrared
remote control:
For operating the music centre
from a distance of up to 5 metres
without a lead. If the range of the
remote control is reduced, the
batteries have to be replaced.
During operation ensure that there
is nothing blocking the direct line
between the remote control and
the sensor (3) on the machine.
Listening to the Radio
1. Press the ON/POWER button (1) (A on the remote
control) in order to be able to use the functions with
the device switched on. The STANDBY light goes off.
2. Turn the function selector switch (7) to the TUNER
position.
3. Select the desired frequency band with the band
selection switch (8).

= FM ST

= FM;
Medium wave = AM (mono)
5. Tune in the desired station with the station adjust-
ment knob TUNING (10).
6. The display shows the radio frequency and the radio
band on the left.
FM (MHz) and MW (KHz) = medium wave.
7. The FM/ST control lamp (9) only lights up when you
have selected FM stereo and the station is being
received in stereo quality. If reception is too weak
and there is noise on the station being received, this
lamp will fl icker. Try to improve reception by turning
and bending or twisting and altering the length of the
antenna (27).
8. An aerial is integrated into the device for the recepti-
on of AM stations. The machine can be aligned to the
station by turning it. In this frequency band programs
are transmitted in „mono" only.
Playing CDs
This is how you play a CD
1. Push the function selection switch (7) to CD.
2. In order to open the CD compartment (11), press the
PUSH/OPEN button (12).
3. Insert an audio CD with the printed side facing up-
wards on to the central cone so that the CD clicks into
place and then close the lid of the CD compartment.
4. „- -" appears in the display (4) followed by the
number of tracks.
5. Press the
/II CD play/pause button (13) (E on the
remote control) to play back the CD. The CD is play-
ed from the fast track on. The track being played and
the word „PLAY" are shown in the display.
6. To remove a CD, press the
remote control), open the CD deck with the PUSH/
OPEN key (12) and take out the CD carefully.
Always keep the CD deck closed.
Note: If a disc has been inserted the wrong way round,
or no disc has been inserted, the symbol „_ _" appears
in the display followed by „00".
Please note these instructions for playing back CDs
and CDRs in MP3 format! The device is not able to
play back MP3 fi les. The CD begins to turn, but the
sound cannot be heard.
