Setting Up a Microsoft Account
A Microsoft account is the email address and password you
use to sign in to Xbox and Xbox Music, Outlook.com,
Windows 8.1, Skype, Find My Phone, OneDrive (formerly
SkyDrive), and Office 365.
Once you have signed in to your Windows Phone with a
Microsoft account, you can use it to buy apps, games, or
music in the Windows Phone Store, play Xbox games with
friends on your phone, get your gamerscore and avatar, play
music with Xbox Music, back up things from your phone and
restore them if you get a new phone, and add Twitter and
LinkedIn accounts to your People Hub.
1. From the Home screen, swipe the screen left to display
the App List.

3. Read the information and touch sign in, if you have a
Microsoft Account, or touch create one to create a new
account.

Creating a New Microsoft Account
If you just selected create one, the Create account screen
displays. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your
Microsoft Account.
Signing In to an Existing Microsoft Account
If you just selected sign in, the Sign in screen displays.
1. Touch the Email address field and enter your Microsoft
Account email address.
2. Touch the Password field and enter your password.
3. Touch Allow Microsoft to send you information and tips
about your Windows Phone to enable this option.
4. Touch Privacy Statement to view the statement.
5. Touch next.
The Verify your identity screen displays.
6. Follow the onscreen instructions to get your a
verification code, enter the code, and touch next.
The Back up? screen displays.
7. Follow the instructions to set up your Microsoft account
to use OneDrive, sync your text messages, and back up
your phone settings.
