• Card reader slot
Used to hold a card-shaped storage medium so that the card reader can read the data on the storage
medium. Your computer supports the following cards:
– Memory Stick card
– Memory Stick PRO card
– MultiMediaCard (MMC)
– MMCmobile card
– MMCplus card
– Reduced-Size MultiMediaCard (RS-MMC)
– Secure Digital (SD) card
– Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) card
– Secure Digital eXtended-Capacity (SDXC) card
– xD-Picture card (type M)
– xD-Picture card (type H)
• DisplayPort connector
Used to send or receive audio and video signals. Another audio or video device (such as a
high-performance monitor) can be attached to this DisplayPort connector.
• Ethernet connector
Used to connect an Ethernet cable for a local area network (LAN).
Note: To operate the computer within Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Class B limits, use a
Category 5e or better Ethernet cable.
• Headset connector
Used to connect a headset or headphones to your computer.
• Microphone connector
Used to connect a microphone to your computer when you want to record sound or if you use
speech-recognition software.
• Security-lock slot
Used to secure a Kensington-style cable lock. For more information, see "Attaching a Kensington-style
cable lock" on page 26.
• USB 3.0 connector
Used to connect a device that requires a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 connection, such as a keyboard, a mouse, a
scanner, a printer, or a PDA.
