If you enter an incorrect security code five times in succession, the
phone ignores further entries of the code. Wait for 5 minutes, and enter
the code again.

PIN codes

• The personal identification number (PIN) code (4 to 8 digits) helps to
protect your SIM card against unauthorized use. The PIN code is
usually supplied with the SIM card. Set the phone to request the PIN
code each time the phone is switched on. See Security on page 71.
• The PIN2 code may be supplied with the SIM card and is required for
some functions.
• The module PIN is required to access the information in the security
module. See Security module on page 105. The module PIN is
supplied with the SIM card if the SIM card has a security module in
it.
• The signing PIN is required for the digital signature. See Digital
signature on page 106. The signing PIN is supplied with the SIM card
if the SIM card has a security module in it.
If you enter an incorrect PIN code three times in succession, the phone
may display
PIN blocked
PUK code.

PUK codes

The personal unblocking key (PUK) code (8 digits) is required to change a
blocked PIN code. The PUK2 code is required to change a blocked PIN2
code.
If the codes are not supplied with the SIM card, contact your local
service provider for the codes.

Barring password

The barring password (4 digits) is required when using the
service. See Security on page 71. You can obtain the password from your
service provider.
