Never fill to more than the above-mentioned
maximum amount, as there is then danger
of boiling water spurting out.
Before using the appliance for the first time, at
least twice a maximum filling of water should
be thoroughly boiled to remove any eventual
residues from the manufacturing process.
Switching on
Use the kettle always and only with the lid
on.
Mod. 849:
Plug the flex first into the appliance and
only then into the mains socket. (5)
Then switch on the appliance (6) which
will, when the water boils, switch off
automatically. (7)
Mod. 858/859:
Connect the base to the mains supply and
place the kettle on the base. (8)
Switch on the appliance (9), whereupon
the control lamp will light up.
When the water boils, the appliance will
switch off automatically and the control
lamp will cease to glow. (10)
The boiling operation can be interrupted at
any time by moving the switch to the 0
position.
Warning: Do not take off the lid during
the boiling process and always pull out
the mains plug after use.
Pouring out
Mod. 849: First pull out the mains plug and
then remove the flex from the
kettle.
Mod. 858/859: Remove the kettle from the
base.
To pour out, first press the key for
opening the spout cover (11), whereby
the spout will remain open as long as the
key remains pressed.
Upon the key being released, the cover will
close again.
Anti-Scale Filter
Dependant on the hardness of the water, a
layer of limescale will from sooner or later on
the heating element. During the boiling of
water, particles of limescale continually
detach themselves from the heating element
and can thus find their way into the drink
when pouring out the water. To prevent it
from happening, this water kettle is fitted with
a special anti-scale filter, which holds back the
loose particles during the pouring operation.
Avoid pouring the water out too quickly, so
that it can run slowly through the anti-scale
filter.
To remove the anti-scale filter, pull out the
mains plug and let the appliance cool down.
Never remove the filter whilst the appliance
is filled with hot water. Press the lid release
key and remove the lid upwards.
Then simply pull the filter upwards out of
the spout. (12)
When returning the anti-scale filter, make
sure that it is reinserted behind the
guides in the spout and locks into
position. (13)
NEVER put the anti-scale filter loose
into the water kettle.
Cleaning
Before starting the cleaning operation, first
pull out the mains plug and allow the
appliance to cool down. Wipe the outside
with a moist cloth and rinse it out inside.
Do not use any hard objects or scouring
materials for cleaning purposes.
Model 859 with anti-scale filter:
To always ensure good results, you should
check regularly if there are particles of scale
in the anti-scale filter. If so, rinse the filter
under clear running water, using a soft
brush (not a metallic one) if necessary.
