First Steps

Inserting the Battery

Your camera uses a rechargeable Nikon EN-EL2 lithium-ion battery (in-
cluded).

Read Battery Warnings
Read and follow all warnings and instructions supplied by the battery manufac-
turer.

1 Open the battery-chamber/memory
card slot cover.
• Slide the battery-chamber/memory card
slot cover ( ) and open it ( ).
2 Insert the battery.
• Press the orange battery latch to side ( )
and insert the battery as shown on the la-
bel on the inside of the cover ( ).
• The battery latch locks battery in place
( ).
3 Close the battery-chamber/memory
card slot cover.
• Close the battery-chamber/memory card
slot cover ( ) and slide back into place
( ).
• Make sure that the battery-chamber cov-
er is properly latched.
