Removing thread repair inserts

File groove in thread insert
Using a triangular file make a groove in the top thread of
the insert, approx. 1/4 of a thread from the end. Take
care not to damage the thread holding the insert.

Remove thread insert
Insert a sharp edge of a triangular scraper in the groove.
Press downwards and rotate anti-clockwise until the in-
sert is removed.

Fit new thread insert
Clean the hole with a tap and fit a new insert.
