myself. I bought a new iPAQ hx4700 LCD screen from eBay (it
cost 70 AUD, and there were a T6 screwdriver and a case opener
tool in the kit). Unfortunately, I couldn't find any good
instructions for disassembling an HP iPAQ 4700 (or any other HP
PDA 47xx series) on the Internet, so it took a bit more time to
me to discover how to replace the broken LCD screen. I have
made the following instruction in case it would help someone
else. However, please note that I'm not responsible for any
damage caused to yourself or your unit by using the following
instructions.

You need a crosshead screwdriver, torx T6 screwdriver, and a
case opener tool (or something like that).

It is clipped on, so it might be hard to remove. In this case use the case opener tool: slide the tool all the way around the case and releasing the plastic tabs.

Take the bottom edge of the module and gently pull upward to disconnect the black connector (pointed by arrow on the image). Then disconnect the wire connector and remove the a crosshead screw nearby (outlined by circle).

To release these tabs, you need to remove two small items of rubber between the tabs and PC case, then release the tabs and the LCD screen should come out (slide the screen a little aside before bring it out).
