Basic information about VCR and Videotape
What is dew condensation symptom?
• If a player is moved from a cool place to a warm and damp place or a
place facing a direct cool wind from air-conditioner...and others,
temperature varies sharply, which makes dew on head drums of
player.
• Dew on the video head drum can ruin video tape and clog or
damage the delicate video heads. Tapes damaged by water tend
to clog up the video heads again.
If dew condensation occurs, turn on the player for about two
hours before using it.
What is the recording protection tab ?
• The diagram on the right shows the recording protection tab (safety
tab) on a video cassette. The tab can be broken out to prevent any
further recording.
• To record it, a user should use a videotape with a tab.
• If you try and record on a video cassette without a tab, the machine
ejects the cassette.
• To avoid recording over an existing recording, break out the tab with a
small screwdriver or similar tool.
• To record again on a protected video cassette, cover the tab position
with self-adhesive tape.
