MACHINE BODY

Needle bed
The needle
bed
guides
the
back
and
forth movement of
the
needle
and
detennlnes
the
pitch
of stitches.

Combs
Th~
combs
make
sinker
loops
of
stitches and
also
make the
stitches
even.

Plain needle
The
plain needle
is
moved
back
and
forth
by
the
cam
attached
to
the
carriage

order to make
needle loops.
4. Belt
When the
carriage
is
moved
to select
the
needle
by
the
card
,
the
belt
begins to
tum
and drive the
needle
selecting
mechanism
and
also
synchronizes the
carria~e
and
needle
selecting
timing.

design

overlapped

Outch wheel
The clutch
wheel
operates the needle
selector mechanism

feeds
the punched card

the card reader

hole)

the
left.
The
cam
has
lobes
spaced
at
1/24
pitch
around
the circumference.

feeding
cam

driven
by
the rotary motion carried
from the
belt
clutch
wheeL
When
it
is
rotated

tum,
the card
feeding lever roUer
rolls
over
the
cam lobe,
and
thus the
card
feed

to
move
up and
down
.

Cud
reader
releasinal
cam
The
card
reader
releasing
cam is
rotated
~
tum
by
the rotary
motion of the
belt
clutch wheel,
and thus the
cam lobe
comes in
contact with the
card
reader
return plate
roUer. When
the
roUer
moves around
the
cam
lobe, the
card
reader
is forced
down
by
the
card
reader
return
plate.
