Auto Power-Off Function
To conserve battery energy, when flash photogra-
phy is f inished always make sure to turn the flash
OFF by sliding the main switch to "O".
T h e C a n o n S p e e d l i t e 2 9 9 T i s e q u i p p e d w i t h a n
auto power-off function which prevents unneces-
sary consumption of battery energy if you forget to
turn the main switch OFF. When the main switch
is left ON and the flash is not used (no main flash,
test flash, or pref lash) for approx. 25 minutes, the
p o w e r t o t h e f l a s h u n i t i s a u t o m a t i c a l l y c u t o f f . I n
t h i s c a s e , t h e p i l o t l a m p f l a s h e s f o r a p p r o x . ' 1 0 0
seconds before power is cut off to warn you of the
auto power-off operation. il
To turn the flash on after auto power-off operation,
either press the pilot lamp once, or turn the main
switch OFF and then ON again.
When using the 299T with the T-series, A-series
a n d t h e F - 1 c a m e r a s , t h e s h u t t e r s p e e d a u t o -
m a t i c a l l y s w i t c h e s t o e a c h c a m e r a ' s X - s y n c
speed as soon as the pilot lamp lights up, except
when the shutter speed is set to "B".
