The AF assist lamp does not turn on.
• Is [AF ASSIST LAMP] on the [REC] menu set to [ON]? (P58)
• The AF assist lamp does not turn on in bright places.
The camera and batteries become warm.
• The surface of the camera during use and the batteries immediately after a long time
use become warm. This does not cause a problem with the performance or quality of the
camera.
The lens clicks.
• When brightness has changed due to the zoom or the movement of the camera or other,
the lens may click and the picture on the screen may be drastically changed, however,
the pictures are not affected. The sound is caused by automatic adjustment of the
aperture. It is not a malfunction.
The clock is reset.
• If you do not use the camera for a long time, the clock setting may be reset.
When the message [PLEASE SET THE CLOCK] appears, set the clock again. (P14)
When you take a picture before setting the clock, [0:00 0. 0. 0] is recorded.
When pictures are taken using the zoom, they are slightly distorted and the areas
around the subject contain colours which are not actually present.
• It is possible that the subject may be warped slightly or the borders get coloured,
depending on the zoom magnifi cation, but this is not malfunction.
Zooming stops instantaneously.
• When using the Extra Optical Zoom, the zooming action will stop temporarily near [W].
This is not a malfunction.
File numbers are not created in order.
• Certain operations cause pictures to be saved in folders with different numbers. (P74)
The fi le numbers are recorded in ascending order.
• If the batteries are inserted or removed without fi rst turning the camera's power off, the
folder and fi le numbers for the pictures taken will not be stored in the memory. When
the power is then turned back on and pictures are taken, they may be stored under fi le
numbers which should have been assigned to previous pictures.
[AGE] is not displayed correctly.
• Check the clock (P14) and birthday settings (P43, 44).
The lens barrel is retracted.
• The lens barrel retracts about 15 seconds after switching from Recording Mode to
Playback Mode.
If the camera is left for a while, [DEMO MODE] is suddenly started.
• This is an auto demo to introduce this unit. Press any button to return to the previous
screen.
