The following topics explain how best to use this guide to get the most out of your phone. Before Using Your Phone Read the Get Started guide that was packaged with your phone, and Safety & Warranty thoroughly for proper usage. Accessible services may be limited by subscription contract conditions. Descriptions in the User Guide Note that most descriptions in this guide are based on your phone's setup at the time of purchase. Part Description Front camera Take pictures and records videos while facing the screen, and allows you to video conference. Proximity Sensor/Light Detect how close an object is to the surface of the screen. This is Sensor typically used to detect when your face is pressed up against the screen, such as during a phone call. While talking on the phone, the sensor detects talk activity and locks the keypad to prevent accidental keypresses. Earpiece Let you hear the caller and automated prompts. Touchscreen Display all the information needed to operate your phone, such as the call status, the Contacts list, and the date and time. Also provide one-tap access to all of your features and applications. Headset Jack Plug in either a stereo headset or an optional headset for convenient, hands-free conversations. Charger/USB Port Connect the phone charger or the micro-USB cable (included). Microphone Transmit your voice for phone calls or record your voice or ambient sounds for voice recordings and videos. Back Camera Let you take pictures and videos. Flash Help illuminate subjects in lowlight environments when taking a picture or recording a video. SIM Card Holder (Internal) Hold the nano SIM card. microSD Card Holder Hold an optional microSD card to provide external memory.

SIM card is replaceable (at cost) in case of loss/damage. Return SIM card to the company when canceling subscription. Returned SIM cards are recycled for environmental purposes. Note that SIM card specifications and performance may change without notice. It is recommended that you keep a separate copy of information that is stored on SIM card. The company is not responsible for damages from stored information that is lost. Always follow emergency procedures to suspend service if your SIM card or phone (SIM card inserted) is lost/stolen. 2. Slide the flap of the SIM card holder in the direction of the arrow to unlock it ( ) and lift the flap 3. Insert the nano SIM card into the flap of the SIM card holder, making sure the cut-off corner is at the top right and the card is inserted behind the SIM guide tabs ( 4. Lower the flap of the SIM card holder ( ) and slide the flap in the direction of the arrow to lock it ( ). Bottom of SIM card should rest against stopper ( Note: Make sure you insert your nano SIM card in the correct orientation. MICROSD CARD A microSD™ card is an optional accessory that allows you to store images, videos, music, documents, and voice data on your phone. Your phone supports a microSD card up to 64GB. Note: The microSD card is sold separately. Note: You can easily damage the microSD card by improper operation. Please be careful when inserting, removing, or handling it. SD Card Cautions Data: Information stored on SD card can become lost or changed accidentally as a result of damage. It is recommended that you keep a separate copy of important data. The company is not responsible for damages from data that is lost or changed. Reading/Writing Data: Never power off while reading or writing data. Battery Level: A low battery charge may prevent reading/writing to SD card. Handling SD Card: Use/store SD cards away from the reach of infants. May cause choking if swallowed. Insert microSD Card Follow these steps to insert an optional microSD card (not included). Make sure to power your phone off before inserting or removing a microSD card. 1. Insert your fingernail into the slit at the bottom of your phone and lift the cover up gently. 2. Insert the microSD card into the microSD card holder with the gold contacts facing down. Gently push the card in until it snaps into place. 3. Replace the back cover. Insert microSD card all the way gently without bending and with terminals facing down. Insert only microSD cards. Warning: To ensure that your phone is waterproof, make sure the back cover is properly sealed. Unmount the microSD Card Always unmount the SD card before removing it from your phone. 1. The menu option name changes from Unmount SD Card to Mount SD Card. The card is now unmounted. Remove a microSD Card Follow these instructions to remove a microSD card. Always power the phone off before inserting or removing a microSD card. 1. Turn the phone off. 2. Remove the back cover by inserting your fingernail in the slit on the bottom of your phone. 3. Gently pull the microSD card out from the holder. 4. Replace the back cover. Warning: To ensure that your phone is waterproof, make sure the back cover is properly sealed. Format the microSD Card When you insert an optional microSD card for the first time, it is recommended that you format it on your phone. 1. From home, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Storage . 3. Scroll down the screen, and tap Erase SD card > ERASE SD CARD > ERASE EVERYTHING. ...
Page 16 Charge Using the AC Adapter 1. Plug the smaller end of the micro-USB cable into the phone’s charger/USB port. 2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into the charger and then plug the charger into an electrical outlet. Note: Your phone’s battery should have enough charge for the phone to turn on and find a signal, set up voicemail, and make a call. You should fully charge the battery as soon as possible. Fully charging a battery may take up to three hours. 3. After charging, disconnect the phone from the charger. Unplug the AC adapter from the outlet, and remove the USB cable from the phone and the AC adapter. Charge Using a PC Connection Before using a PC connection to charge your phone, ensure that the computer is turned on. Depending on the type of connection, your phone’s battery may not charge. 1. Insert the small end of the USB cable into the phone’s charger/USB port. 2. Insert the large end of the USB cable into an external USB port on your computer. 3. TURN YOUR PHONE ON AND OFF The instructions below explain how to turn your phone on and off. Turn Your Phone On Press and hold the Power Button. Your phone will power on. Depending on the settings, you may see the lock screen. See Lock and Unlock Your Screen and Screen Lock for information about using the screen lock. The first time you turn the phone on, you will see the startup screens. See Complete the Setup Screens for details. Page 20 Swipe or Slide To swipe or slide means to quickly drag your finger vertically or horizontally across the screen. Drag To drag, touch and hold your finger with some pressure before you start to move your finger. While dragging, do not release your finger until you have reached the target position. Get Started...
Page 21 Flick Flicking the screen is similar to swiping, except that you need to swipe your finger in light, quick strokes. This finger gesture is always in a vertical direction, such as when flicking the contacts or message list. Rotate For most screens, you can automatically change the screen orientation from portrait to landscape by turning the phone sideways. When entering text, you can turn the phone sideways to bring up a bigger keyboard. See Touchscreen Keyboards for more details. Tip: You can also access the screen rotation setting from the notification panel. Pull down the status bar and tap Rotation to turn the option on or off. Pinch and Spread “Pinch” the screen using your thumb and forefinger to zoom out or “spread” the screen to zoom in when viewing a picture or a Web page. (Move fingers inward to zoom out and outward to zoom in.) ACTIVATION AND SERVICE Before using your phone, you must set up your service with Virgin Mobile. You will need your phone’s serial numbers (MEID and ICC ID). These numbers can be found on the phone's packaging. For more information about your Virgin Mobile account, see Virgin Mobile Account Information and Help. Create Your Account and Pick Your Plan Set up your Virgin Mobile account. 1. From your computer, visit virginmobileusa.com and click Activate. 2. Choose an activation option and click Next. Then enter your zip code and click Next. 3. When prompted, enter the serial number (MEID) printed on the sticker located on the back of your phone in the battery compartment. This number can also be found on the bottom panel of the phone’s package. 4. Follow the remaining instructions to choose your plan and select a payment method. 5. Activate Your Phone After setting up your account on virginmobileusa.com, simply turn your device on. Your device is designed to activate automatically. If you are swapping from another Virgin Mobile device to a new one, be sure to turn off the old device before swapping the serial number (MEID). Once the MEID swap is complete, turn on the new device and the programming information will be pushed to your device automatically. You can also start the activation process manually. From home, tap Apps > Settings > Activate this device COMPLETE THE SETUP SCREENS The setup screens help you set up certain features and preferences on your phone. Once your phone has been turned on, you will see a Welcome message. You can then complete the setup process. Note: You may be able to complete the setup screens before your phone has been activated on your account. 1. From the Welcome screen, select a language and tap to get started. To skip any section, tap NEXT or SKIP. Note: On the Welcome screen, there may also be an Accessibility button. If you are visually impaired or hard of hearing, tap Accessibility to change the accessibility settings. 2. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete each section. For each topic, you will have the option to skip it and continue to the next screen. Wi-Fi – If prompted, follow the prompts to sign in to an available Wi-Fi network. Page 24 Terms of Service and Privacy Policy – Read any applicable End User License Agreements or Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for using your phone, and tap ACCEPT to continue. Google (Add your account) – Tap Enter your email and complete the steps to sign in to your current Google Account, or tap Or create a new account to set up a new Google Account. Tap SKIP to skip Google setup. The following options may apply depending on your selection: Enter your email – Enter your Gmail address and password and tap ACCEPT to agree to the terms of service and privacy policy and sign in to your current Google Account. Or create a new account – Follow the instructions to sign up for a new Google Account. There will be screens to enter your first and last names, create an email Get Started...

Set up payment info – Set up payment information for purchases made through Google Play. Select No thanks to skip this step. Get your apps & data – If you are using a Google Account you had set up on a previous Android device, you can choose to use that device's backup information to restore backed-up apps, data, system settings, Wi-Fi passwords, etc., from the previous device to your new phone. Tap Set up as new device to skip this step. Google services – Select your Google location and service options and then tap NEXT. Personalize your phone – If applicable, enter your first and last name and tap NEXT. This information is used by the phone to personalize certain apps. 3. Your setup is now complete. Follow the onscreen instructions to learn about basic tap menu navigation, view tutorials, or just get started. Your phone is now set up for use. If you skipped any part of the setup, you can access additional options through the Apps screen or through Settings. Note: You do not need to sign up for a Google Account to use your phone. ENTER TEXT You can type on your phone using one of the available touchscreen keyboards or Google voice typing. Touchscreen Keyboards Your phone offers you convenient ways to enter letters, numbers, and symbols whenever you are prompted to enter text. The keyboard appear automatically onscreen when you tap a text entry field, and they can be used in either portrait or landscape mode. You can also use the Google Voice typing option to enter text using your voice (see Google Voice Typing for details). Google Keyboard The Google keyboard offers a traditional QWERTY keyboard setup for entering text by tapping keys (like on a computer), along with enhancements and options that allow you to enter text faster and more accurately, such as continuous key input, personalized usage dictionaries, and more. Google Keyboard Overview Note: Keyboard layouts and options may change depending on where you’re using them. For example, if you’re entering text to do a Web search, a search icon may be available instead of an enter key. Tip: To close the keyboard, tap Text Mode Tap to select ABC mode. In ABC mode, tap to alter the capitalization. You can select the caps lock by double-touching or touching and holding to make all letters in a word uppercase. In Number & Symbol mode, tap to display more symbols. Some keys have alternate characters. In either mode, if a key displays an extra character at the upper right corner, touch and hold the key to enter the character. Or, touch and long hold a key to call up a list of all the characters available on that key. Tip: For more information about the Google Keyboard settings, see Google Keyboard. Google Voice Typing Google Voice typing uses Google voice recognition to convert speech to text. To enter text by speaking: 1. Tap the microphone icon on the keyboard. 2. If you see Speak now, say the text you want to enter into the microphone. If you see Tap to pause, Google Voice Typing recognizes your voice. 3. Confirm the text you want to enter is displayed. Tap again to continue entering. Tips for Editing Text Your phone gives you many options to make entering text easier, including copying, cutting, and pasting text, using voice-to-text input, customizing the user dictionary, using predictive text, and more. To copy and paste the text: 1. In a text entry field, touch and hold the text body. 2. Selection tabs appear and the currently selected words or characters are highlighted. Drag the tabs to expand or reduce the range of the selected text.

GOOGLE ACCOUNT You will need a Google Account to access several phone features such as Gmail, Google Maps, Hangouts, and the Google Play applications. Before you are able to access Google applications, you must enter your account information. These applications sync between your phone and your online Google Account. Google Account Cautions Be sure not to forget your Google Account ID or password. Create a Google Account If you do not already have a Google Account, you can create one online or using your phone. Call Waiting is automatically reactivated once you end the call. Conference Calling With conference calling, also known as 3-way calling, you can talk to two people at the same time. When using this feature, the normal airtime rates will be charged for each of the two calls. 1. On the Phone screen, enter a number and tap (or place a call from RECENT CALLS tab or Contacts). 2. Once you have established the connection, tap Add call , and dial the second number (or place a call from RECENT CALLS tab or Contacts).
